Impact of depression on quality of life in systemic lupus erythematosus patients

Abstract Background Depression is common in systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and an unmeasured risk factor, yet its symptoms can be neglected standard disease evaluations. The purpose of this study was to assess the frequency impact depression on quality life SLE patients. We recruited 32 patients with 15 healthy control volunteers study. following investigations were undertaken each patient: clinical rheumatologic assessment, Disease Activity Index-2k (SLEDAI-2k), Beck Inventory (BDI), Short-Form Health Survey (SF-36) questionnaire, routine laboratory tests. Results There a high percentage (46.9%) Regarding (SF-36), there significant affection physical mental composite summary domains (PCS MCS) scores compared controls (P < 0.000 for both) same depressed non-depressed SF-36 subscales (physical function, limit emotional, emotional wellbeing, social function) significantly affected negative correlation between score MCS domain BDI 0.000) while positive SLEDAI score. In contrast, no correlations or PCS age, duration illness, SLEDAI-2K.
